Rob Gronkowski and Bibi Jones

Is New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski one of the most physically dominating players in the National Football League?  

Absolutely!  The ‘Polish Punisher’ over-powers just about everyone he faces and is on pace to destroy most NFL tight end single season records.

As I write, Gronkowski just scored his 3rd touchdown of the day and continues to inflict his wrath on the Indianapolis Colts defense.  His 2nd touchdown grab this afternoon, a 21 yard reception from QB Tom Brady, tied the all-time NFL record for touchdown receptions (13) by a tight end, set by Vernon Davis (2009) and Antonio Gates (2004).  Rob’s 3rd score of the day would have put him on top of the ranks, but the play was later ruled a lateral, which is considered a running play.  Today’s performance also marked his 5th game of 2011 where he had scored at least two touchdowns.  A remarkable exhibition in its own right.

Gronkowski first made headlines outside of the football world when he posted a picture on Twitter (@RobGronkowski) of himself and porn star Bibi Jones. Apparently the two didn’t actually have sex, the picture was a marketing tool for Gronkowski to acquire more Twitter followers.  It definitely worked.  The picture blew up on the Internet and speculation grew about the couple’s relationship status.  But it was all in good fun.  So much fun, in fact, Rob’s brother, Glen, dressed up as his bigger bro for Halloween.

It’s safe to say this kid has a future playing the football.  The possibilities seem endless for him on the grid iron.  Next Sunday, when you’re done praying for the foolishness in Denver to stop, check out the Patriots and Redskins game (1:00 EST).  Odds are you’ll see the first time a tight end has caught 14 touchdown passes in a single season.
