Have you ever wondered what your dog would have to say?

April 9, 2013 in Just Plain Funny, Technology

During my daily routine of scanning the boundless absurdity of what has become the world wide web, I came across a website that I felt compelled to share with the readers of NewsFlask.com.

Have you ever wondered what your dog was thinking? Or, even what he would say to you if he had the ability? That seems normal, sort of. But take that thought and stretch it a step further, a big step. When you’re off busy at work and enveloped in your humdrum daily life, have you ever dug deep into gratuitous thought about what your dog would have to say to you via a casual, mid-day text message? Well, neither have I. But the folks over at TextfromDog have, and they’ve put a tremendous amount of time into scripting how these text-based conversation would go. Their site’s descriptive tagline is, “My dog sends me texts. I post them here. Yeah, it’s weird.” So yeah, that just about sums it up. The results are pretty damn , and raunchy at times, so proceed with caution.

SXSW Festival Offers Homeless Hotspots

March 16, 2013 in Music, Politics, Technology

The South by Southwest festival continues to grow year-by-year and possibly ranks among the most popular arts and tech festivals of modern times. This year’s SXSW event is now making news for a revolutionary idea that has put haters in a moral debate.

A charitable marketing program, that is paying homeless individuals at the event, has triggered a worldwide debate on whether it’s a ‘just’ cause or a disgraceful display of that illustrates humans’ never-ending downgrade of moral values.

BBH Labs, the innovation unit of the international marketing agency BBH – who is the main contributor to this idea – have thirteen volunteers from a homeless shelter. These volunteers carry around hotspot devices, business cards and wear T-shirts bearing their name and their purpose - “I’m Clarence, a 4G Hotspot.”  The homeless people were then instructed to visit the most densely packed areas of the conference and offer their wireless service. They were paid $20 a day, in addition to donations from customers who took advantage of the wireless service.

As a lover of great human morals, which my mother beat into me with a wooden spoon, all I could do was laugh when I heard this news. I believe this to be a unique and cheap way to advertise, which should have no repercussions as long as the volunteers are okay with the job description. I mean, at the end of the day they’ll have enough money to at least eat dinner, or……drink it.

Apple Now Most Valuable Company in the World

March 29, 2012 in Technology

stock (Symbol: AAPL) hit a new high today of $503.83 a share – peaking its market capitalization at $465 billion – making it the world’s most valuable company. Apple and Exxon Mobile (Symbol: XOM) have been trading position as most valuable company since last summer. But this latest rally has Apple valued around 17% more than Exxon Mobil (est. $400 billion). Just since the beginning of the new year, Apple stock has grown almost 25% from roughly $403 per share. On January 4, 2012, Apple reported a net income of $13.06 billion for the year’s fourth quarter, nearly doubling its profit from the same quarter the previous year. Sales were up $46.3 billion – 73% from the previous year.

Since the passing of Apple co-founder, chairman and CEO – Steve Jobs – on October 5th of 2011, many were skeptical of the company’s immediate future. This latest rally, which really started around the beginning of December, should help put investors at ease.

Apple continues to be the most innovative consumer electronics company in the world. The company sets no technological limits, intriguing investors while at the same time making potential suitors weary of such recent robust performance. Five short years ago, Apple stock traded in the vicinity of $82, which is prompting everyone to wonder just how high the shares can go? Is it too late to get a seat on the gravy train? I thought it was a year ago when the stock was traded at $350. Oh well, Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems. Right?

Ultrasound Technology used as Birth Control

February 3, 2012 in Technology

University of North Carolina scientists have studied and concluded that in fact there may be a new form of . While ‘sperm zapping’  may not appeal at first, it has females across the western world jumping for joy in relief from such responsibility.

Scientists have discovered that 15 minute intervals of ultrasound waves on testicles reduces fertility significantly. As of right now the test have been exclusively to lab rats, but are expected to be the next generation of birth control in the near future. Although the ultrasound is a safe method, researchers are still trying to discover the long-term effects, i.e. how long does it last, is it safe to use multiple times and would sperm recover if children are planned in the future?

Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield, said: “It’s a nice idea, but a lot more work is needed.”

He said that it was likely that there would be recovery of sperm production, but the “sperm might be damaged and any baby might be damaged” when sperm production resumed.”The last thing anyone wants is a lingering damage to sperm.”

Each milliliter of discharge contains approximately 20-300 million sperm, depending on the male, so there is still a risk if the technology is the method used.

As a male, along with the irresponsibility of going and receiving these treatments, I’m sure the ‘HARDEST’part would be to let medical personnel rub that freezing cold gel on your junk. Therefore this will not catch on. As always the onus is on you women to keep it sterile.
