Paul McCartney on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

February 15, 2012 in Celebrities, Entertainment, Music

As today’s working generation dreams and strives for an early retirement, complaining of life’s blisters along the way, the great generations before, continue to prove their longevity and poise. At age 70 will grace the cover of on February 17th. The Hall of Fame icon should have been collecting his pension over five years ago but has given the middle ‘finger’ to age and continues to rock.

In 1992 when McCartney turned 50, mass media hounded him with questions of retirement and Paul has done everything but disappoint his fans, reaching out to a younger audience with the rebirth of old Beatle songs and great live tours for twenty more years.

Once again the questions arise. Obviously these people asking the questions didn’t watch his performance at the Grammy’s. How could you even ask such a question? Clearly the music world still needs a Beatle.

Paul tells Rolling Stone Magazine that he has no plans to retire from recording or touring.

“You get the argument ‘Make way for the young kids,’ ” he says. “And then you think, ‘Fuck that, let them make way for themselves.”

Jay-Z’s tribute and pictures with daughter Blue Ivy

February 11, 2012 in Celebrities, Entertainment, Music

has been known as a lyrical rap genius for almost two decades but never has he poured out as much heart and soul as he has the last two days. Early in the morning on January 8,2012, Sean Carter and gave birth to their first daughter, .

Less than a day later the legendary ‘Jigga’ released a song he wrote to greet the new life into the world.  The song is no doubt a celebrated hip-hop beat with raw and meaningful lyrics which we haven’t noticed from Jay since the ‘Blueprint’. You can even notice his excitement, as he should be, and joy in his voice as he spits out the words.

Gut-wrenching and classic Jay-z style song lyrics to listen for:

“You’re the child of destiny / you’re the child of my destiny / you’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child.”

“Last time the miscarriage was tragic / We was afraid you’d disappear but nah baby you’re magic.”

Check out the newly released photos of the baby. Courtesy of the Carters’ and Tumblr:

It seems that the proud father may now have more than 99 problems.

Next time you are listening to your Creed CD, sipping on some Alize’ and having a trip down memory lane, don’t be afraid of showing off that atrocious yearbook photo. It is the look that inspired you to change your appearance with the help of numerous chemical peels, botox injections and tanning lotions. It made you the better person you are today.

Newt Gingrich Ordered to Stop Using ‘How You Like Me Now?’ During Campaign

January 29, 2012 in Entertainment, Music, Politics

Once again, another presidential candidate has unlawfully misused their campaigning song. Several times throughout recent history of U.S. presidential candidates, a lack of lyrical understanding and ill-favored use of popular rock songs has occurred. Once again, Republican Candidate  has kept the trend alive.

The presidential hopeful was served a cease and desist notice from Third Side Music, a Montreal-based publishing company that owns the rights to the song ‘How you like me now?’. In 2009, British rock band, , released the song which hasn’t been received with much U.S. attention, until the past week.

After the owners, Third Side Music, sent the cease and desist notice, the Band released this statement on their Facebook page:

“If you heard How You Like Me Now being used by Republican, Newt Gingrich, in his campaign, we’d like you to know it had fuck all to do with us and we are trying to stop it being used. TWATS.”

The careless misuse of popular music containing genius lyrical arrangement have dated back to when President Ronald Reagan misused ’s song, ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ A song that signified a Vietnam veteran’s unhealthy fight back to social status after being mistreated by his government, the meaning was overlooked because of it’s ‘catchy’ chorus. Recently sent a similar notice to another Republican Candidate, Michelle Bachamann, for her use of his song ‘American Girl’ and that same week, ‘Katrina and the Waves’ ordered Bachmann to stop using their song, ‘I’m Walking on Sunshine’.

Whether it’s a bad case of politically educated conservatives uneducated about rock music or the music itself in a ‘step-father’ like hate relationship with that particular party, all lovers of lyrical greatness in music realize someone needs to do a better job at the GOP screening stage.
